Bari M Brandt, MD

Dr. Bari Brandt is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of retinal diseases. She has been a retinal consultant in private practice for 25 years. Dr. Brandt graduated Phi Beta Kappa with high honors from Cornell University. She received her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She was the only student in her medical school class selected to complete her ophthalmology residency at Mount Sinai. She then completed a surgical and medical retina fellowship, gaining experience in a wide variety of pathology and trauma, in Birmingham at the University of Alabama.

Dr. Brandt’s many interests include the treatment of macular degenerationdiabetic retinopathy, vascular occlusions, and retinal tears. She has performed countless laser procedures for these retinal conditions and has significant experience in newer treatments for these and other conditions with the use of intravitreal injections. She has been involved in research on the etiology and treatment of diabetic retinopathy and retinal artery occlusions and has published articles in several journals including the American Journal of Ophthalmology and the Survey of Ophthalmology. She has lectured and presented her research at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meetings.

Dr. Brandt was featured in the March 2020 issue of Main Line Today Magazine discussing treatments for macular degeneration. 

Dr. Brandt is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is a Castle Connolly “Top Doctor in America”. She was a 2020 “Exceptional Women in Medicine”. Dr. Brandt has been voted “Top Doc” in Philadelphia Magazine multiple times, and in Main Line Today for several years in a row.

She enjoys raising her 3 sons and volunteering in school and community activities.
